UX Design for an Intelligence & Investigation Platform

This project involved designing a complex investigation platform intended to support intelligence gathering, digital investigations, data analysis, and operational workflows.

The objective was to transform fragmented investigative processes and multiple disconnected tools into a unified digital experience that would help professionals work more efficiently and make better-informed decisions.

Competitor analysis and market research

Scope of Work

My role covered the full UX design process, including:

  • product discovery and research
  • competitor analysis
  • user personas
  • user journeys and workflows
  • information architecture
  • dashboard and interface design
  • interactive prototyping in Figma
  • usability testing and validation
  • stakeholder workshops and feedback sessions

The project focused on balancing powerful functionality with usability, ensuring that complex investigative workflows could be performed through a clear and intuitive interface.

Research & Discovery

The design process began with extensive research into existing investigation, intelligence, and OSINT tools. Competitor analysis, stakeholder workshops, and user interviews helped identify common challenges, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

Based on the findings, I developed personas, user flows, and user journeys to better understand how investigators interact with information and move through different stages of the investigative process.

Design Approach

The platform was designed around the needs of investigators, analysts, and intelligence professionals who regularly work with large volumes of information, multiple data sources, and complex investigation processes.

A key objective was reducing cognitive load by simplifying navigation, organizing information more effectively, and creating workflows that support faster decision-making.

Special attention was given to dashboard design, information hierarchy, and interaction patterns that allow users to access critical insights without unnecessary complexity.

Interactive Prototyping

Using Figma, I created high-fidelity interactive prototypes that allowed stakeholders to explore the platform, validate workflows, and provide feedback before development.

The prototypes served as a communication tool between business stakeholders, investigators, and the technical team, helping align requirements and reduce uncertainty during the planning phase.

User Testing & Validation

The design process incorporated qualitative feedback sessions, stakeholder reviews, and usability testing to validate design decisions and continuously improve the user experience.

Each iteration focused on improving usability, navigation, and workflow efficiency while ensuring the platform remained scalable enough to support future development.

Results

The outcome was a comprehensive UX concept and interactive prototype for a modern intelligence and investigation platform.

The project demonstrates my ability to combine user research, information architecture, workflow design, and interface design into a cohesive product experience for complex professional environments.

While the product continues to evolve, this case study highlights the UX process, strategic thinking, and design methodology used to transform a complex set of investigative workflows into a clear and scalable digital experience.
