Overview

Slovenian Games Conference (SGC) is a conference bringing together creators, professionals and businesses from the video-game industry.

Between 2015 and 2019, I contributed to the visual identity and communication materials across multiple editions — from the core graphic identity and website to programme brochures, promotional print and visualisations for the conference environment.

for physical and digital touchpoints

The challenge

The conference needed a recognisable visual language that could connect different content, speakers, partners and event materials.

Each edition introduced new content and an opportunity to refresh the visual direction, while the communication across channels still needed to feel connected.

The challenge was not to design one material in isolation, but to establish a visual system that could adapt to different formats without losing recognition.

Approach

I approached the work through the complete conference experience rather than as a series of individual deliverables.

For different editions, I developed and adapted the visual identity, typography, graphic elements and layouts. Programme brochures received particular attention: schedules, presentations and other information needed to remain clear and easy to navigate.

The resulting visual direction extended to the website, promotional materials and spatial presentations, allowing each element to work as part of one connected whole.

The central visual concept made it possible to adapt the identity across a wide range of formats.

Programme publications

The programme brochures needed a clear system for organising content, schedules and speaker information. Beyond visual recognition, usability mattered: information had to stay easy to understand within a detailed conference programme.

The work included graphic design, adapting layouts for different formats and preparing files for print.

Printed programmes required careful production preparation without losing the character of the annual identity.

The visual system in space and online

The visual language connected the website, promotional materials and the physical event environment. The annual key visual, venue graphics, directional signage, badges and accreditation, presentation templates and communication for partners and attendees all read as part of the same story.

The visual system carried from digital communication into the physical event environment.

Project value

SGC is an example of a design collaboration where individual materials were not created separately. Every edition required an understanding of the content, an adaptation of the visual system and its consistent use across different media.

The project reflects my approach to design: establish a clear visual direction that supports both creativity and effective ongoing delivery.

Approach & Learnings

What I enjoy most is designing systems rather than isolated deliverables.

Conference identity is a good example of that way of thinking. Every brochure, badge or spatial graphic can seem like a separate task, yet the real work lies in creating a visual language that keeps every element connected.

Every project begins with understanding.

A good solution is not an accident. It emerges when people, goals and users are aligned around one clear direction.
