Overview

Fontana Medical Center is a private healthcare provider in Slovenia, offering specialist examinations, diagnostics, physiotherapy and preventive healthcare services.

Our collaboration began in 2019 and has evolved into a long-term design partnership supporting the centre’s communication across printed and digital channels.

Rather than delivering isolated projects, I became an external design partner responsible for creating consistent visual communication that supports patients, healthcare professionals and the company across a wide range of touchpoints.

The challenge

Healthcare communication is built on trust.

Patients often search for medical information when they feel uncertain or concerned. In these moments, clear communication is just as important as visual design.

The challenge was to communicate a broad range of medical services in a way that feels approachable, professional and easy to understand, while maintaining consistency across multiple departments, specialties and communication channels.

Scope of collaboration

Throughout the partnership, the work expanded across many areas of communication.

  • brochures
  • catalogues
  • flyers and posters
  • medical service information materials
  • promotional materials
Printed materials need to clearly guide people through the range of services while retaining the calm, recognisable character of the brand.

Brand communication

  • campaign visuals
  • iconography
  • visual consistency across departments

Digital communication

More recently, the collaboration expanded into digital communication, including:

  • social media management
  • social posts: visuals, copy and content concepts developed with the Head of Sales
  • educational social media content
  • Reels and short-form video
  • campaign visuals
  • Meta Ads creatives
  • visual assets for digital campaigns
A selection of Reels and short-form videos designed to make healthcare communication more accessible and human.

Communicating complex medical topics

One of the most valuable parts of this collaboration has been translating specialised medical knowledge into communication that patients can easily understand.

Each medical specialty comes with its own terminology, procedures and patient concerns. Rather than applying the same visual approach everywhere, every campaign begins with understanding the subject itself before deciding how it should be communicated.

Over the years, I have created educational and promotional content for a wide range of medical specialties, including:

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • physiotherapy and rehabilitation
  • electromyography (EMG)
  • dermatology
  • gastroenterology and urology
  • bone density scanning (DEXA)
  • lymphatic compression therapy
  • sports diagnostics
  • preventive health check-ups

The work combines research, content simplification, visual storytelling and design to help patients understand medical procedures, prepare for examinations and feel more confident before their appointments.

Rather than creating content that simply promotes services, the objective is to educate, reduce uncertainty and build trust.

Information materials combine structured medical content, clear hierarchy and a visual language that helps patients make informed decisions.

Designing for healthcare

Healthcare communication requires balancing information with empathy. Every brochure, social media post, advertisement or campaign should help patients feel informed rather than overwhelmed.

Throughout the collaboration, every design decision has been guided by three principles.

Clarity

Presenting medical services and procedures in a way that is easy to understand.

Consistency

Creating a recognisable visual language across printed materials, social media and marketing campaigns.

Trust

Designing professional communication that reflects the quality of the healthcare services behind it.

Campaigns were designed to work in the centre's physical environment, giving patients direction and reassurance at a glance.

From print to digital

As the company evolved, so did the collaboration. What began primarily as graphic design for printed materials gradually expanded into digital communication and content creation.

Today, the work includes leading the social media presence: creating visuals, posts and copy in close collaboration with the Head of Sales. It also includes planning educational content, producing Reels and short-form videos, and preparing Meta Ads creatives that explain specialist healthcare services in a more engaging and accessible way.

A consistent visual identity connects the smaller everyday touchpoints too — from gift vouchers and signage to information materials.

Long-term partnership

One of the greatest advantages of long-term collaboration is understanding the organisation beyond individual design requests.

Working closely with the medical centre over several years has made it possible to build visual consistency, respond quickly to new communication needs and support the company through continuous design improvements rather than one-off projects.

Results

Over the years, the collaboration has resulted in hundreds of printed and digital communication materials supporting the medical centre’s everyday work.

From brochures and catalogues to educational social media content, advertising creatives and visual campaigns, the work has aimed to make communication more consistent, present complex information clearly and support patients’ trust.

Approach & Learnings

Working with healthcare professionals reinforced something I encounter in almost every industry.

People rarely struggle because information doesn’t exist. They struggle because it is too technical, too fragmented or presented without context.

Whether designing for healthcare, cybersecurity or investigative services, my role remains the same: understand complexity first, then transform it into communication that people can confidently understand and act upon.

Next step

Every project begins with understanding.

A good solution is not an accident. It emerges when people, goals and users are aligned around one clear direction.
