Overview

When DVA approached me, the objective was not simply to redesign an outdated website. The company needed a stronger digital foundation: one capable of supporting future growth, communicating specialised investigative services more clearly and building long-term search visibility.

What began as a website redesign evolved into an ongoing strategic partnership spanning digital strategy, UX, SEO, content architecture, analytics, graphic design and continuous optimisation. Today, the website is the central platform behind the agency’s marketing, lead generation and long-term digital presence.

The visual direction brought a complex offer into one credible, coherent digital system.

The challenge

DVA offers highly specialised investigative services for both businesses and private individuals. Over time, its website had become a large collection of service pages, legal information and articles. This made navigation increasingly complex for visitors and search engines alike.

The redesign needed to address several connected challenges:

  • modernise the visual identity without compromising trust
  • make complex investigative services easier to understand
  • create clear journeys for different audiences
  • preserve years of accumulated SEO value during migration
  • improve conversions with clearer calls to action
  • establish a scalable content strategy
  • build a platform that can evolve without another full redesign

Rather than treating these as isolated design problems, I approached them as parts of one connected digital ecosystem.

Strategy: clarity before complexity

The work started by understanding how different audiences search for investigative services and what they need to know before they make contact. Instead of organising the website around the company’s internal structure, I restructured it around user intent.

Clarity

Specialised investigative topics were translated into content that is easier to scan, understand and act on.

Trust

Professional design, educational content and transparent communication work together to build confidence before a visitor gets in touch.

Discoverability

A robust SEO and content architecture supports sustained organic visibility rather than short-term traffic alone.

Scalability

Flexible templates, reusable layouts and a considered information structure allow the platform to keep growing without losing coherence.

A transparent client journey turns a sensitive service into a clearer next step.

A role that spans the whole system

Rather than contributing to a single project phase, I became responsible for the overall digital direction — from strategy and information architecture through to the ongoing visibility and communication of the brand.

Brand communication

To keep the identity consistent beyond the website, the collaboration also includes business cards, brochures, flyers, catalogues, datasheets, presentation materials, email signatures, marketing assets and social media graphics.

Rebuilding the information architecture

One of the largest parts of the project was restructuring more than 180 existing articles alongside dozens of service pages into a logical, scalable information architecture.

Rather than migrating content page by page, I completed a content audit to understand the relationships between services, supporting articles and user journeys. The migration included redirects and search-visibility monitoring, while the new structure strengthened internal linking, introduced clearer navigation and prepared the website for future expansion.

The new information architecture connected services, content and different routes to contact.

SEO and GEO are part of the product

Search optimisation was not treated as a final task after launch. It was built into the project from the beginning — from the way pages are structured and connected to how services answer the questions people actually search for.

As search behaviour changes, the collaboration also extends into Generative Engine Optimisation. The aim is to ensure that DVA’s expertise is clearly communicated not only to traditional search engines, but also to AI-powered discovery systems.

Beyond the website

The website became the foundation of a broader digital ecosystem rather than a finished deliverable. The partnership continues through ongoing SEO, AI visibility improvements, landing pages, blog strategy, content creation, analytics reviews, UX refinements, print materials and digital consulting.

This iterative approach keeps the platform aligned with changing technology, user behaviour and business priorities.

The partnership also extends the visual system into specialist print communication.

Results

The redesigned platform has become an important business asset rather than simply an online brochure.

  • complete website redesign
  • migration of more than 180 articles
  • scalable information architecture and clearer user journeys
  • content migration, redirects and search-visibility monitoring
  • ongoing SEO, analytics and Google Search Console monitoring
  • GEO optimisation for evolving search behaviour
  • consistent visual communication across digital and print channels
  • a long-term strategic design partnership

Project Value

One of the most rewarding parts of this project has been seeing it develop far beyond its original scope. What started as a website redesign has become an ongoing collaboration focused on helping DVA communicate more clearly, become easier to find and adapt continuously to an evolving digital landscape.

Instead of ending with a finished website, the collaboration created a digital platform designed to grow alongside the business.
