Digital Presence for an Internationally Recognized Sculptor
Andrej G. Gaberi is a distinguished Slovenian sculptor whose works can be found in public spaces, universities, museums, libraries, and cultural institutions across Europe.
This pro bono project was created with the goal of building a digital platform that would showcase his artistic legacy, document decades of creative work, and make his sculptures more accessible to a wider audience.
Rather than creating a simple portfolio website, the objective was to develop a digital experience that reflects the character of Gaberi’s work while providing visitors with a deeper understanding of his artistic journey.
Scope of Collaboration
- website strategy and information architecture
- visual direction and digital presentation of the artist’s work
- content organization and structure
- image selection and optimization
- gallery and portfolio design
- collaboration with editors, photographers, and developers
- responsive website design and implementation
Challenges
One of the biggest challenges was gathering and organizing a large archive of photographs documenting sculptures, exhibitions, cultural events, and installations located across several European countries.
Each piece required careful categorization and presentation to ensure visitors could easily explore the artist’s body of work while understanding the context behind individual sculptures and exhibitions.
Design Approach
The visual language was inspired directly by Gaberi’s sculptures. His distinctive combination of fluid forms, sharp edges, light, shadow, and metallic accents influenced the overall design direction.
A restrained color palette, generous use of white space, and large-format photography were chosen to place the artwork at the center of the experience while maintaining an elegant and timeless aesthetic.

Expanding Accessibility
Beyond showcasing large public sculptures, the website also introduced dedicated sections highlighting Gaberi’s miniature works, making his art more accessible to collectors, supporters, and visitors interested in meaningful gifts and smaller-scale pieces.
The structure was designed to support exploration, storytelling, and engagement while helping visitors discover different aspects of the artist’s work.
Results
The result is a digital platform that serves both as an online portfolio and as a long-term archive of the artist’s work.
By combining thoughtful content structure, visual storytelling, and user experience principles, the website helps preserve and present Gaberi’s artistic legacy for future audiences while increasing the visibility of his work online.
