Artida is a brand from Slovenia and was developed in 2010 by Greco d.o.o., a small family software and design company from Slovenia.

Artida’s main goal is to envoke positive values, versatility, the love for nature, people, places, knowledge and creativity in children and the young at heart with its cute little characters that were designed to smile, encourage, love and be loved. Artida is not only one character but a variety of characters with common features. They represent people, animals and imaginary characters in different environments, times, sports activities, countries, cultures, races, holidays, funny situations – anything you can imagine. Curiosity and engagement of this characters are a priority.

Versatility of Artida characters

Artida characters enjoy various activities, especially those that include nature and people. Sports, travelling, having fun with friends, learning, playing games, discovering the world and falling in love. In the summer, Artida loves to snorkel and scuba dive where she discovers the clown fish, purple octopus, corals and plays with the bubbles in the sea. Artida loves excitement. She is adventurous and fun.

Here is the latest collection of Artida T-shirts that I’ve made. All T-shirts are limited edition (<10), made of quality materials and have a motive of Artida character printed with a technique that gives the colourful T-shirt a nice contrast.

Artida is a project I’ve been working on for almost a year now (www.artida.eu) and I’m exited to offer something that people can actually wear. The T-shirts are being very well accepted by people who have already purchased them and it is an amazing feeling for a designer when you get this kind of instant response.

We only ship in Slovenia for now but hope that this is just the first stage of a new adventure.

There are many ways for fighting the lack of creativity but I think at least 5 of them are extreemly useful and serve as a great tool for long-term establishment of your future creativity.

1. Sabbatical.

If you are facing the lack of creativity, take a sabbatical. Take some time off for an hour, a day or a few days, just enough for feeling the urge to stop the vacation and start creating amazing things.

Every creative person on this planet knows or should know about the great designer Stefan Sagmeister and the time he took for his sabbatical, his vacation away from work for 52 weeks. Saying that he does the most thinking when he is not being pressured is the most unambiguous idea for every creative person. No work, no clients, no stress, no deadlines. Just plenty of time to think, discover new things, to be inspired and come back as a popcorn waiting to pop out fresh ideas. Certainly we all want to do that, but taking a vacation for reasons that grow from a wish to bring the best creative ideas to your business is just pure ambition.

2. Conquering your fears.

Find your fears and conquer them.

I began to organize my life in a way that most suits my personality, environment and working tempo. So every once in a while I go on vacation and put my mind on rest by doing things that I’m not used to or I am kind of afraid to do. In the past few years scuba diving was one of the best ways to clear my mind. Scuba diving is similar to yoga in a way, because you have to control your mind and breathing so that you don’t get frightened by venomous animals, strong currents, fear of underwater caves, sharks, open ocean, cold water, and other fears. When you learn to control yourself, scuba diving is one of the most amazing experiences you can get on Earth. Flying in space is probably better.

Find your fear and face it.

3. Sports.

I was doing a lot of sports when I was a child but in the past few years I’ve been doing none or very little of it. And I’ve realized that not doing all that sports is a damage for me and my body. Doing sports is extreemly important for your creative personality. It grows individual commitment, rewards you for your fails and teaches you that taking chances is good.

4. Personal life.

Make birthdays and holidays your benefit. Wrapping the gifts, writing the notes and thinking of the best ways to congratulate the receiver can be one of the most creative things you can do. Think: there is so many people wanting to stand out of the croud, but only YOU are the one that is capable of making the most creative and stunning appearance on this occasion. Remember that people who are present are just like your future clients. There’s a magnificent way to impress them, you just have to find it.

5. Brainstorm.

If you’re in lack of creativity, there is a great way to provoke it. Take a very big paper and a pen and start to brainstorm words, letters, thoughts and pictures of everything that comes into your mind. Try not to write all the thoughts in one column but try to use the paper as a creative space. Use bubbles, tables, arrows, different typography, colors, cut newspaper words and stick them on the paper, do whatever you want, because this is the storm and the lightning of your inner, most personal thoughts. When you’re finished just put it away and come back later to find interesting similarities between different elements.

Use all 5 ways for increasing your creativity as a long-term investments in your highest potentials. You are the master of your mind and remember – there is no risk without chances!

If you read my blog, you’ve certainly heard of Artida, the cutest character from Slovenia, the brand I’m creating to promote positive things in life, people, countries, cultures, sports, fashion and education.

Artida is not one specific character but presents every character you can imagine through unique and cute image/illustration of game-ish character with a big head, cute looks and minimalistic design elements.

Artida can be everyone from a cute little girl riding a bike to a rastafarian jamaican girl with dreadlocks and a heart-shaped lollypop in her mouth. There are so many things in between that it’s hard to draw a line, but Artida characters always and exclusively represent only positive things.

The cuteness of this character is used to make it likeable to kids, identified with teenagers and other creative people.

We saw the first snowflakes in Slovenia a few days ago. And today the mist finally disappeared and the view on the white hills of Mariborsko Pohorje was absolutely stunning!

It’s just a matter of time before they open the skiing places in Maribor and people are allready collecting and reparing their skiing equipment so they don’t miss a day of riding the snowflakes up in the hills.

Don’t worry if you don’t ski or don’t have the ability to ski; there is lots of other things you can enjoy on snow! There is a funny looking sledding device from Slovenia called ‘pležuh‘ which can be even more fun to ride with than skiing!

I’m back from my 2nd scuba diving safari in Red Sea, Egypt. The trip was amazing and I can say it was probably one of the best diving trips I will ever have.

We saw hammerhead sharks, oceanic white tip sharks, turtles, giant barracudas, tunas, anemonefish (Nemo), coyotes in the desert and had a great time last night in Hurghada city. It was really an unforgetable experience and quite an inspiration for my next artworks
